Dixie's Baby Pics!

Dixie with her mom.

What cute ears..so long! She looks so clean!
Love that little tail!

Look at that curly mane!

Baby's growing up!

I can't believe how big she is getting! She is SO much bigger than Cocoa. She still has some more growing to do yet too which is great. :) My little baby is growing up.

Dixie's Antics

Dixer was totally hilarious today. I was feeling sick so I just went out with the horses for a bit. I was walking around the pasture and they were following me everywhere. Dixie came running down the hill after me and we have this huge pond now down there because of all the snow melting.....well I thought Dixie would have noticed that. She didn't..well not until she hit the edge of it and when cantering onto it. I stood on the edge just staring. I didn't know what to do to try and help her. The little pond/puddle was only about a foot deep but she was breaking the ice with her feet and I didn't want her to cut herself or slip on the ice. It was nerve wracking but she got her self out for the middle in a couple mins. and came to stand beside me and just stare out at it. I think she was mildly surprised that she fell through! She was just fine and Cocoa and Dixie proceeded to run around and then roll in the snow! :) Gave me a little scare though, if she would have slipped..yikes! I think she is pretty aware of it now...the puddle will be gone in a few days anyway when the snow melts and it gets warmer.

Dixie

Well Dixie has been doing great! I'll have to put up a more detailed post later but for now I'll just give a short but sweet summary.

Dixie had her first canter - with me riding bareback - the other night! I was SO proud. No bucks or anything.

Then the other day I rode her in the pasture on top of the blanket bareback and she trotted and cantered while I was bareback and bridleless...Cocoa was racing her. I wasn't planning on that..just walking but she started trotting and I was like I'll just sit it out. It was ah-mazing.

A couple days ago then I hopped on and we trotted ( I rode her bareback with my slippery snowpants on top of her stable blanket) down the DNR road. Then I asked her to canter and she went into a really fluid Slow canter! I was super impressed for atleast 10 strides. I asked her to come down to a trot and she did right away. We did more canter and trot transitions and she did a little crow hop a couple of the times. It was cute and then just continued on cantering. Finally on the way back we cantered fast!!! :) She was having fun and stopped and backed right up when I asked.

I can't believe how with ease she takes new things, and is so open. We haven't done a lot of riding...because she's young and still growing and I want to get the groundplaying down pat..but she offers things to me..! Riding too. We have barely trotted in an enclosed area..and she is already cantering beautifully down the backroad and on the trails. I can't believe her!! :)
